We did...and a few others like the whistling one. We'll get it straight! (Ok, ok, Incubus will probably get it straight... )

I was just listening to the Thom Hartmann radio program and they were discussing a book that sounded like it had many similarities to PoE:
"Pirate Republic" by Colin Woodard
Concerning a group of Caribbean pirates that between 1715 and 1720 pooled their resources and operated from a shared base. Members include Blackbeard, Stede Bonnett, Anne Bonney, Mary Reed , (and therefore presumably Jack Rackham). They had their own form of a democratic republic in effect. What brought them down was when a guy named Woods Rogers suggested offering a no-strings amnesty to any pirate that sincerely gave up being a pirate and started to work for the Crown. That effectively split the pirates' ranks and got them to start fighting with themselves.
Sounds like it may be worth the read.

Doesn't surprise me. I honestly believe that no matter what we see nowadays, someone has already done it. I drive my friend nuts because I predict what plot twist is coming at the end - mostly because I am a movie and old shows junkie. I told her what the deal was with The Village in the first 10 minutes. The most recent was The Illusionist. Now The Skeleton Key caught me off guard - never saw that one coming...!
Sounds like an interesting book. Is it fiction or non-fiction?

Well, Thanksgiving has come and gone and now everyone's attention has turned to Xmas. I'm guessing that PoE won't be out in time to end up under my tree. Any forecast of _when_ we should start to salivate about its imminent release?

Your guess is correct. We took a major risk here with the route we have chosen. PoE was originally intended to be a somewhat short (6-8 hours) puzzle-focused AG that we were going to self-publish in order to help finance Raven's Hollow. There were tons of ideas in there that we had scrapped in order to fit that development time frame we had in mind. After the press releases and the tons of attention we got about it's announcement, it seemed pretty foolish not to revisit those ideas we had scrapped and try to brings those in to the game. That of course meant more time would be needed which means more money to keep things going - money that wasn't there to take us through that full development schedule. Enter in the the 5 new smaller titles. Those were ideas we had toyed with and prototyped awhile back. If we could focus on getting those out in a few months, then perhaps we would have some income coming in while we worked on PoE. After all, since I am doing this full-time there is ZERO income if I have no titles available until PoE is done. I can't even begin to try and give you an accurate release date on PoE. If these new titles do well enough, then we're looking at a possible late spring/early summer release - with everything we have and a 14-20 hour game. If they don't do too well, then I'll be out looking for a paying job and development of PoE changes to a part-time affair unfortunately. The release date at that point will be anyones guess.

I just joined and have several questions. I see several references to a trailer, but so far I haven't found it (not encouraging for my ability to complete the game!) I see the screen shots, which are great, and read the review but it doesn't give me much if a feel for game play. Can someone post a link or URL to the trailer?
I am not really a computer gamer anymore since virtually everything requires eye-hand coordination I don't have. I used to love the games like Amnesia, the Tex Murphy series, Gateway, and to a lesser extent, the first Myst. The key to these being the challenging puzzles, imaginative settings, and plenty of time to explore and try to figure out the puzzles. So my question is, is this game like those, or does the player have to complete some difficult move-here, click-that task under time pressure - at which point I always get killed and stop playing, even with a walkthrough.

Hello Rat and welcome to our forums! Wow... I can't believe the trailers aren't there. Not only that, but the links to the interviews are gone as well. Talk about a serious oversight on our part when we switched over to this web design. I'll get that fixed right away. Yes, this game is like those games you mentioned. I don't foresee anything being timed in this game - for the most part it's about being able to explore in any direction you want and solve whichever puzzles you want at your leisure. I'll get those links on that page right away.
